THE GERMANS WIN!

Oklahoma D-Day Update

The Jolly Green will be at Oklahoma D-Day next week and will be showing off their new jerseys as well as t-shirts and a banner. We will be playing as Germans and for the big game we will be defending Utah beach against those pesky Allies...

Stalingrad @ Shaggy Bros. OKC

Held at Shaggy Bros Paintball outside of Oklahoma City, Stalingrad was the JG's first scenario of 09. With over 125 players Stalingrad made for a nice warm up scenario for the rest of the 09 schedule. Being the first event of the season and with PSP Phoenix the week after, our attendance was limited with the JG bringing only five members to the event, but none the less... it was a blast! As is the case most of the time, the JG played as German's. The format was set for three 2hr games with breaks between each mission. At the end of the day when all of the Oklahoma red dirt/dust had cleared the German's were victorious.
Thanks to all the refs and promotors for doing a great job!

"Many members of the 709th played as Soviets at the Red Dawn game at OK D-Day this weekend and dominated. Teams like Jolly Green, Ghost Recon, The Ballbusters, Monkey Theory and the Green Devils. These teams will be making up the backbone of the Utah Beach forces. Join up with some of the best teams at OK D-Day and stop the Allied Invasion force. Did I mention that the 709th has its own infantry, artillery, heavy weapons, anti-tank forces and even its own tanks. Why go anywhere else when got it all at one Beach. Whatever your style of play we have something to offer you."

Blue's Last Day in OK

RECON

As some of you know the Jolly Green will be in the next edition of Special Ops Paintball's RECON magazine. Before the interview I realized that we didn't have a team picture from any of the events we attended or from any of our many days of rec play. Unfortunately we couldn't get everyone together due to scheduling conflicts, so you'll see some missing faces, but all together I ended up emailing around 30 pictures including pictures from D-Day and other events to the editor to choose from for the article. On the same day we took the pictures below Josh and I had the privilege of being interviewed by Ian the editor atRECON RECON magazine. We had a ton of fun and a lot of laughs. I honestly thought the interview might last 15 minutes or so, but we talked for an hour and seventeen minutes, it was a BLAST!!

These two didn't make it to the editor...but the one of Ben sure is funny!

"First, congratulations to Jolly Green. This was the first time that I personally got to meet them, but I could tell right off that they are a great group of guys. It seems that everywhere I turned, they were there giving it all they had. It was a pleasure to meet and play with them."

Woodsball Challange 2-24
The Jolly Green were one of 10 6-man teams from the state that squared off for the first semi annual Woodsball Challange held at Paintball Land in Collinsville, OK. Competition was good all day as everyone enjoyed relatively good weather for Feb. in Oklahoma. The JG were selected to be one of the first two team to play the triangular shaped field with three flag station, one at each of the teams home bases and the third at the swing base. We pushed hard to the swing base and quickly took control of the majority of the field and held our ground for the remainder of the game. We failed to reach the maximum amount of points scored due to a "rules issue" we misunderstood that "Points are given when red or blue team moves swing flag to their colored position…at the swing base it must be held for 1 minute to get total points" meant it will be reset every minute even if one team is still in control of the area. The JG continued to score large totals of points until we faced the team in the current leader, we started from the less-desirable side of the field and on top of that a few small mistakes cost us and kept us from gaining the swing base at the start of the game. We lost control of the majority of the field until late in the game when we regrouped and pushed hard and regained the swing base, but we all feared it might be to little to late in this round robin tournament. The JG closed out the tournament strong but the points lost in the first game and the mistakes in game 4 were to much of a deficit to come back from, at the end of the day the Jolly Green earned a Third Place finish and most of all we had fun playing and where able to help two team mates close out the first tournament of their paintball careers.

Thanks to Paintball Land for putting on the tournament and thanks to all the refs for doing a great job!

07 SPPL Oklahoma Qualifier 1st Place

Players from the Jolly Green were privileged enough to team up with players from Cruel, another local Tulsa team, and participate in the 07 SPPL Oklahoma qualifier where they took home FIRST place!
